Multitude of decisions may make up divorce proceedings in Florida

There are many factors that Florida residents need to consider if they are thinking about filing for divorce. They may have already given attention to some aspects, such as how they would like child custody and/or property division proceedings to go. However, there are steps that parties need to take before the divorce even gets under way.

Property division: Prenups could prove useful in Florida

When it comes to divorce, there are many proceedings that could become tedious and time consuming. Property division is one of the most common areas in which Florida residents can face disagreements and continued negotiations in hopes of getting what they want. However, there are steps individuals could take even before tying the knot in order to potentially avoid this strenuous situation.

Child custody & support issues may worry Florida parents

When parents divorce, it is common for custody proceedings to take place in order to determine where the children involved will spend their time and with whom. Child custody & support arrangements are legally binding, and if individuals fail to adhere to those terms, they could face serious consequences. Parents who are negatively affected because the other parent violates the terms may which to seek changes to the arrangements.

Florida child custody & support: Lack of payment a concern

Needing the support of another individual may be difficult for some Florida residents to accept. However, many single parents often welcome child support payments that are supposed to be used for the needs of their children. Unfortunately, some individuals may find themselves in a child custody & support situation where the other parent has not been making payments, and difficulties could arise.

When adult children divorce, beware of 'overparenting'

A new term made it into the dictionary in 2011 -- "helicopter parent." Most everyone in Florida reading this has probably heard it. It describes a parent who is so involved in their child's life that they are downright obsessive about making sure nothing bad ever happens to them. Experts agree it's not a good thing.
